TimeWalk
Android app that turns your walk into a narrated journey: stories about the places around you, or the history of any topic, paced by your steps.
TimeWalk turns an ordinary walk into a narrated journey. Keep your phone in your pocket, screen locked, and listen as you go.
Get TimeWalk on Google Play. It’s free to download and comes with 15 minutes of narration.
Two ways to walk
Just Walk tells you the stories behind the places around you: what stood here before, how the neighbourhood took shape, and the people who left their mark. There’s no fixed route. Take a detour and the stories follow you.
Take a timewalk lets you choose any subject and walk through its history, with your steps pacing the story. A 3 km loop of the park can become 4.6 billion years of Earth’s history, or 250 years of espionage technology.
How it’s built
- Native Android app built with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
- Local stories are generated from sources tied to where you are walking, and each story keeps a link to its sources.
- Narration keeps playing with the screen locked, and transcripts are saved so you can revisit past walks.
- Premium narration runs through an authenticated backend, so no provider keys ship in the app.
- No subscription: 15 minutes are included, and extra narration comes in one-off packs.
